Students' visit in "Zacisze" - the rest-house in Katowice.

            Two weeks ago, students from our school visited elder people in the rest house "Zacisze". We went there, because we wanted to wish them all the best for Easter. We also wanted to give them some gifts and cards, which we made ourselves. Most of us did it with our families. The visit took us more than one hour. The residents were really surprised! It is worth to live for the moments like that. We hope that we will repeat this visit next year, because it gave us a lot of satisfaction.

        





First we prepared some gifts and Easter cards for the residents of Zacisze house. We tried to do it togehter with our brothers and sisters.

Then we visited the elder people, who were very surprised and moved by our presence and gifts.

                                                              This time art really connected all the generations!

Music labs!

In our school we can spend free time on many different ways. One of them are music labs. In our group are many girls and boys. Some of them play some instruments (guitar, piano, violin and bass), and some of them sing. Our leader is a Polish teacher. We meet every Thursday and practice, because we perform in school's shows and in retirement homes. We love doing it, because we can do our hobby, learn new things and on the occasion cause positive emotions in other people!

Art labs in Katowice!

            On 16^th of March 2013 Polish school organized art labs. The topic was decoupage. In the labs participated our students, as well as the invited guests. We all had a very nice time making something new from the old things, giving it a new, fresh look!

Textile soundinsulation for our doctor’s waitingroom

Our students created a sound insulation for the doctor’s waiting room in our school. At the beginning of the project the students did not have any idea about the textile sculptures by Hike Turré. The teacher Mag. B. Nduefuna-Maier gave an inspiring introduction and then the students started to create their own sculptures.

The students worked in a relaxed atmosphere and their flow of creativity was supported by the sound of music. The students created figures out of wire which should show children with different injuries.

First of all the wire was bent and formed and the the students designed the clothes. Used material was: wire grid, wood bars, egg cartons, linen, sugar, etc. It took the student approximately six working hours to finish their piece of arts. The had a lot of fun to decorate the patients’ waiting room in our school. 

 

Polish students in the theatre masterpiece!

           On 4^th of February 2013, the students form Zespół Katolickich Szkół Ogólnokształcących in Katowice, took part in the theatre show “Fairytale Memories”, played in Wyspianski Theatre, the biggest theatre in Katowice. Our students were responsible for the decoration, costumes, and, of course, for their roles, as they were real actors!

    

 

          

       This is what one of the actresses, Julia, said about the show:

"Fairytale Memories" show was a great adventure. We started the preparations to the show already in September! The meetings and a lot of long rehearsals before the play helped to build the good team and also made the whole group feel more confident in our abilities. The possiblity to work with a real actor was really amazing experience. Each advice was very important and valuable for us. The show time was incredible. The scene, costumes, lights and the audience made us feel like we were young actors. We will always remember this theatre adventure as an excellent time!

Visit to Austria from the Polish point of view :)

          First day of our the workshops during first Comenius project visit we spent sightseeing Vienna. We went to this city by coach. We reached Vienna at 5³⁰  and next we found our guide. The guide showed us first the Saint Stephen's Cathedral. It's the highest church in Austria! Next we went to the Vienna Opera. It's a huge building! Then we saw the Palace of President, a very impressive building! Next we walked to the Gustav Klimt Museum, where we saw one of his famous painting. Then we went to the Leopold's Museum to see a lot of pictures from famous Austrian painters. The visit to Vienna was very instructive for us, we saw a lot of interesting buildings and pictures, but this day was exhausting! I think Vienna is a very beautiful city with lots of old buildings. After visiting the city we went directly to Judenburg to meet with other hosting families. Although we stayed in contact with them before the visit, waiting to see them was really excaiting!

During the second day of our visit in Austria ( 1/03/2013) we had a trip to the city Graz. On Saturday we went to the university in Graz and we saw the Museum of Crime.
Then we visited the ancient and modern part of this second largest city in Austria and got free time for lunch, shooping etc. Next we had a trip to the "Spanish Riding School" in Piber, where we saw beautiful white horses and listened to a lot of information about them.

 

On the third day - Sunday we were at the St.Lambrecht Monastery. First we went for a mass to the church than we visited the Monastry Historic Museum to learn about it's past. After that we had lunch and we went for a walk. Later we had mosaic workshop and we chose a logo of Comenius 2013/14 project. The Polish logo won. That was a very nice day.

            Monday, the fourth day of our visit to Austria, we spent at school in Judenburg. First we were at official openig ceremony lead by the headmaster. Next we were divided into 4 groups and we had four different workshops : Arts,  Folk Dance, Austrian Artists, Creative Arts. Next we had lunch at school. After lunch we had free time. Next we went to Dancing workshops, where we could learn Waltz and Polka. After finishing officially the Austrian exchange, we were picked up the last time by the parents. It was fantastic day.

The last day, Tuesday, we were all very sad, because we had to go home. We would like to say thank you to our Austrian partners again for the great time day organized us for these couple of days in Judenburg! See you soon in Poland!
